A Singaporean single mother was deceived into withdrawing $120,000 in cryptocurrency for a romance scam. The victim, who had never met the scammer in person, was convinced to prepare for a move abroad with her two children before authorities intervened.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Lee Hua Sheng from Singapore's Anti-Scam Command identified suspicious transactions and alerted the woman. The scammer had communicated exclusively via WhatsApp for over a year without revealing their identity.

"She narrowly avoided being stranded in a foreign country with no funds," ASP Lee noted. The victim is now recovering with family support while investigators trace the crypto transactions.
